Volunteer with PREP
PREP is powered entirely by volunteers and strongly welcomes your participation! That might be a one-time event or on a continuing basis — whatever best suits you, your talents, and interests. No formal training or past experience in emergency preparedness is needed.
Opportunities
Engaging with the Community
PREP holds several events in Point Roberts each year, from the popular Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser to themed emergency preparedness information sessions to disaster response training exercises.
Scheduled events in 2025 include:
- Wednesday, May 7th, 2025 – Emergency Preparedness Learning Event
- Friday, June 6th, 2025 – Community Info Session on Wildfire Risk & Preparedness
- Saturday, June 7th, 2025 – Disaster Airlift Response Team (DART) Training Exercise
- Friday, July 4th, 2025 – Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser
At these events, volunteers help in many ways – planning, setup, registration, publicity, refreshments, clean up, and more! And, yes, flipping pancakes!
Helping During an Emergency
PREP is a place for those who want to help in the event of an emergency.
Working under the direction of Fire Chief Christopher Carleton, Whatcom County Fire District 5, PREP is an important resource in times of need. Some individuals choose to undergo specific training to be a part of Point Roberts’ Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
